JUNE 16-18, 2023 • chicago, illinois

Since 2019, The Chandler Project (TCP) has hosted the annual Achondroplasia Research Conference, the only event in North America to learn about the latest research and advancements pertaining to pharmaceutical and surgical treatment for those with achondroplasia. In 2021, the event expanded its focus on other skeletal dysplasias including hypochondroplasia and spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SEDc). In honor of this being the fifth year of the conference, TCP is excited to announce the rebranded conference title: PHARMACHON.

Pharmaceutical treatment and research surrounding achondroplasia and other skeletal dysplasias can be a sensitive subject matter. Now more than ever, it's important to have a safe space for patients, parents & caregivers, researchers, physicians, pharmaceutical and biotech companies to engage and network in a safe environment and to openly discuss and bond over shared experiences surrounding treatment, research and developments.

At PHARMACHON, patients, parents and caregivers get to hear the latest information surrounding research and developments from researchers, physicians and pharmaceutical companies. More importantly, the researchers, physicians and companies will be able to hear from patients and parents on what they are wanting and are hoping for in terms of treatment options.

who is this for?

PHARMACHON brings together patients, parents, caregivers, genetic counselors, scientific researchers, and physicians of various specialties including endocrinologists, geneticists, orthopedists, and pharmaceutical companies to connect and learn about the latest research and advancements pertaining to pharmaceutical and surgical treatment for those with achondroplasia and other skeletal dysplasias.

what can you expect?

Currently, there is only one FDA-approved therapy for the treatment of achondroplasia. However, more options on the way for both achondroplasia and other skeletal dysplasias. Attendees will hear about new research directly from the source themselves and learn about the science behind each approved and developing treatment and how it differs from others. Researchers and physicians will be able to engage with patients, parents & caregivers on what they are wanting and expecting when it comes to treatment.

when and where:

June 16-18, 2023 at the InterContinental Magnificent Mile in Chicago, Illinois. Room rate: $289/night.

why should you attend?

This event is exclusively in person and will not be available online.

How is this different from other events?

PHARMACHON is the only event in the United States where patients, parents & caregivers affected by achondroplasia and other skeletal dysplasias can hear about the latest research and scientific breakthroughs surrounding treatments (approved and in pipeline) directly from the researchers and scientists.

"I completely geeked out. Genetics is so fascinating to me. As someone who works in graduate medical education, I've attended my fair share of medical conferences and talks, and I always love listening to scientists and doctors talk about their research, but this is my first one where I get to listen to people talking about research so close to my heart that I've already studied so much about, and it just hits different."

"I loved everything about this event."

"I appreciated the Q&A panel discussions! I wish there was more data to be shared. Being able to discuss with other families was a highlight."

"I am very grateful for this event and I am also grateful that non-achon conditions are being discussed also!"

"I expected the presentations to be dumbed-down but I was so happy they presented the science in-depth and didn’t shy away from hard questions! Amazing."

"Access to Pharma info that I can’t get anywhere else and connect with the other attendees. Dr. Ravi was especially amazing!"
